The 2018-19 NorthWood Panthers protected The Pit in their home opener vs Triton. After opening the game with a 17-0 run, they would go on to win 51-31.
The Panthers were able to take advantage of 21 points off of Triton turnovers and 9 points off of second-chance opportunities. The defense was able to defend the paint and force perimeter shots, which for much of the second quarter did go in for Triton. However, the Panther ‘D’ was RELENTLESS showing SELFLESS play by taking 2 charges (Nick Bean and Ben Vincent) and they had 2 more attempts (Trent Edwards and Cooper Wiens).
NorthWood was led in scoring by Ben Vincent with 14 who was able to knock down 4 threes on the night. Trent Edwards ended with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Brock Flickinger, all 5’7″ of him, led the team in rebounding snagging 4 rebounds. The Panthers also received great minutes from Jason Borkholder off the bench. Borkholder finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds.
NorthWood will be back in action next Thursday night vs 2A #1 Westview. Be ready to PACK THE PIT!
