The Panther Pit was rocking tonight as the boys hosted 2A #1 Westview. The home faithful and student section were rocking their “Grey Out” gear as the Panthers took the floor looking to compete against a great state-level opponent.

The Panthers showed they could compete with a state contender throughout much of the 1st half. Through the first four minutes, the Panthers were up 5-2 and after the 1st quarter, led 15-12. The Panther defense was relentless vs the scoring threat of Westview’s Charlie Yoder and Elijah Hales. Holding Yoder to only 5 points at half, the Panthers went into the locker room with a 27-25 advantage over #1 Westview.

It was a 14-2 run in the 3rd quarter that allowed Westview to pull ahead. NorthWood would not give up without a fight. The Panthers would chip away at a 56-38 Westview lead in the fourth quarter to fall 61-48.

The Panthers showed great fight and that they could compete with teams at the highest level.

NorthWood was led in scoring by Ben Vincent with 12, Brock Flickinger with 9 and Nick Bean with 8. Matt Dutkowksi would also finish with 9 points and a team-leading 7 rebounds. Jason Borkholder collected 3 baskets and 6 rebounds.

NorthWood will travel to Fairfield for a Saturday night matchup vs a possible Sectional 21 opponent.
