Saturday’s second game against Western was a heartbreaker for NorthWood, as they lost the lead late in a 12-5 defeat. Western trailed 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning when an error scored two runs for Western. NorthWood lost despite out-hitting Western seven to six.
NorthWood took an early lead in the first inning when NorthWood collected five straight hits with two outs.
Newcomer took the loss for NorthWood as he battled through one inning, allowing five runs (0 earned) on one hit and striking out one. Jacob Raasch started the game. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out three and walking one. NorthWood had to go deep into the bullpen giving Beau Stankovich (3 hits & 5 runs given up) and Isaiah Yoder each an inning.
Logan Balasa went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead NorthWood Panthers in hits.
