NorthWood stole the lead late and defeated Culver Academies 3-2 on Saturday.
NorthWood Panthers knotted the game up at one in the top of the fourth inning. Payton Bear drove in one when he doubled.
The game was tied at one with NorthWood Panthers batting in the top of the sixth when Brant Mast’s sac fly scored one. After NorthWood scored one run off of a Jason Cripe sac fly in the top of the seventh, it became a 3-1 ball game.
Preston King started the game for NorthWood. He surrendered one run (unearned) on three hits over three and a third innings, striking out eight while walking three. Cripe took the win for the Panthers. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two and walking one.
Sawyer Warren led NorthWood Panthers with two hits in three at bats. NorthWood Panthers didn’t commit a single error in the field.
NorthWood finishes the regular season 19-4 and will play Angola in the first round of sectionals on Wednesday at Lakeland.
