Boys Varsity Baseball · Solid Pitching and Timely Offense Leads to Season Opening Win

Alec Holcomb didn’t allow a single run against Westview, throwing a complete game shutout and leading NorthWood Panthers to a 13-0 victory on Monday.

The Panthers got things moving in the first inning when Hunter Warren doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. The Panthers secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the third inning. Jaden Miller and Payton Bear each hit a grand slam in the inning.

Holcomb was credited with the victory, allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

The Panthers scattered 11 hits in the game. Kyler Hauptli and Matt Dutkowski each managed multiple hits. Dutkowski’s two hits were both doubles, one of which drove in a run. Sawyer Warren also collect 1 hit, 3 runs scored, and was walked 3 times. Senior Brant Mast would go on to hit a double and score twice as well.

The Panthers look to keep things rolling tomorrow night vs Mishawaka Marian.
